    Gregg's posting is an interesting viewpoint of Cloud Computing, but I think he over-sells commoditization. From my experience in service SMB and SME customers, commoditized Cloud infrastructure services fail to meet their needs due to hidden costs and barriers to entry. Instead, they're looking for custom or fully-outsourced technology that the commoditized players aren't interested in providing.

    Eric,

    I agree that his perspective is limited to commodity networking. We defined Cloud Computing at three levels:

    Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).

    The closer you are to end user capabilities, the more customization.
